When new type of Gens Ace / Tattu battery shows up, we first do initial IR tests to see where they belong. If IR is higher (room temperature), we do some cycles and see how they behave heated up.

But to fully understand how the battery will behave under load we need to do discharge testing and measure the voltage over time.

We started cycle testing long time ago, when we have found out that Gens Ace / Tattu LiPo packs can be charged  5-10C or even above! Most people doubted us, so we proved that fast (field) charging not only saves time, but saves on your expense of owning multiple packs. You need fast charger (with field battery). In most cases two packs are enough. One on the charger, other in the model. When you are done flying/driving, the other battery is already waiting for you fully charged (and heated up). You exchange the packs and off you go. We have proven 30, 40 or even 50 cycles per day are no problem for Gens Ace / Tattu packs!

Before we deep dive into our discharge curve tests  let us explain some of more common questions:

What is very good to know before reading our testing

We are quite sure that most of the readers will get much of the new information reading these tests. Before we deep dive into this matter we need to clarify few well tested and proven facts of the Genspow made packs.

Gens Ace Bashing packs are great, but reading and trying our expert advices can give you even more power and save you a few bucks on the way!

We have excellent reputation of giving the best information to our customers. Combine that with the excellent quality of Grepow packs we have almost no RMA. Many customers report 100s of cycles over the years, we even have 13 year old packs with 1000+ cycles still in use (yes, those legendary 25C series!)

Most RC Car / Bashing enthusiasts  use 1C charge and use dozens of packs.

But with high performance >25C Gens Ace packs it is no problem to charge 5C (already in 2010!), 10C, 20C even 33C for some >95C packs!
Fast charging heats up the pack thus lowering its internal resistance and preparing it for high Amp discharge at higher voltage – i.e. higher power!

No, fast charging at 5C doesn’t hurt performance nor cycle life. No, you won’t blow up your Bashing packs this way!

Yes, you can slowly charge the pack, but it won’t delivery the same power or give you runtime you will get from heated up (40°C) pack after quick fast charge. However the Gens Ace engineers are doing extremely good job of creating high discharge packs even at room temperatures. We are so getting used to >5C charging that 1C charge is not only waste of your precious time, but having a dozen batteries is putting a lot of charging work and is not exactly kind to your wallet 🙂

The most important thing is to be sure, that after the charging is complete (which is only 5-10 minutes!) you need to begin discharging the pack as fast as possible. Otherwise fast charging makes no point.

Tattu packs handle this with no problem also no problem to get couple of 100 of such charging cycles 🙂 – please see our testing!

C rating nowadays (and already 15 years ago) is only label number and good for marketing. It can be very misleading for typical consumer.

It is not possible to compare different packs after C rating label. So real tests are needed. Even we have much problems explaining why some Gens Ace packs of only 60C outperform those at 140C!

While some youtube influencers are trying hard to compare packs, they are usually using only 1C charge, which is doesn’t provide good performance for high discharge. External heating of the packs is just too complicated.  We recommend fast charging your  Bashing packs packs right before the run at 3-5C to get max. performance & run time! In this case this means 3 x 7A = 21 A to 5 x 7 A = 35 A.

Your Gens Ace D300 can charge up to 23 Amps when using sync mode or use D1000 to get 25 Amps.

For more Amps (Sept 2025) we suggest excellent Junsi iChargers. But then need separate power supply or good field pack!

We suggest temperature of 35 – 40°C before the run. Use fast charging to heat up the pack or if this is not possible at least your own body temperature. Running at below 15-20°C at high Amp discharge is “hurting performance” of your Bashing packs!

Also please do not overdischarge (disharge at max 90% of the rated capacity!) for good cycle life ( at least 2 years,  300 – 400 cycles).

Yes, we have proven many times, that Bashing packs can be LiHV charged, i.e. 4,35V or even 4,4V/cell.

The “trick” here is to fast charge the packs (5 to 10C) and immediately (few minutes at most!) discharge them after the charge. This way you will not hurt their performance – test proven!

But you will decrease performance and capacity if you slowly charge them to LiHV (1C) and leave them fully charge for longer than 10 minutes. They will puff badly or even burst if left fully charged at 4.3V/cell for longer periods of time, so beware!

Internal resistance numbers can be quite good factor when comparing the current performance of different packs, but they are not everything. When comparing discharge curves we wneed to mention

We measured IR as low as 0.8 mOhm/cell when at 40°C 2-3mOhm/cell resting at room temperature. Why is this? Well you need low IR when needed for discharge, but for long cycle life you need packs at high IR when storing. As soon as some decent load is applied to the pack, the IR drops dramatically if at lower than 25°C temps. But having the pack ready at 40°C it can deliver more power instantly. Nevertheless keep your wires short and your connectors as clean/new as they can be to extract maximum power!

We haven’t done cycle tests on the Bashing packs, but some ouf our customers reported using the packs over 3 seasons with up to 400 cycles and still have low IR and more than 80% of the capacity.

We have proven that Tattu R-Line V5 150C can do 1000 cycles. Funfly 500 cycles and even then some!

First cycles

Our proven “recipe” for long lasting Gens Ace & Tattu LiPo packs is to start quite gentle in the first 5 cycles. We are using proven Junsi iCharger chargers we also sell.

  • 5 cycles at 2A charge till 4.1V/cell (Li-Ion) in discharging at ca 2-5C till 3.7V/cell. The photo below is just a sample photo from testing larger capacity pack:

Test equipment

We trust our Junsi iChargers connected via USB cable to a PC running DataExplorer software. We use multiple Quantenergo 100Ah LFP pack as a source and then discharge the tested pack via synchronous regenerative discharging to achieve maximal currents (1 kW , 40-46A ).

How we tested:

  • Charging at 16 Amps (, 4.23V/cell and 4.4V/cell)
  • Discharging at 45A Amps, first cell to reach 3,3V/cell)

Comparison of LiHV discharge curves

  • I must apologize for mixing up the red and green texts (7000mAh and 8000mAh pack).
    🟢Amazing cells, very low IR, much below 1 mOhm/cell when heated up.
    🟢Discharge curve is on top of Gens Ace Bashing 6200mAh 100C and Gens Ace 8000mAh 60C packs!
    🟢Amazing capacity, can deliver over 7000mAh after LiPo charging and almost 8100mAh when LiHV charged (15 Amps).
    🟢 Major flaw – the DEANS connector – limiting the AMPS and thus not suitable for high discharge! 😮‍💨 @LiPo.si we are offering our customers exchanging the connectors to more usable XT60 or even XT90/EC5 connectors and also shortening the cables. Then the packs can give you max. power!  

Little bit longer comments on the discharge curves

  • We see that in the voltage the Bashing 7000mAh 60C dominates 6200mAh 100C and 8000mAh 60C packs. I was pleasantly surprised that it gives not only best power/voltage over other two (BTW also excellent packs!), but the capacity is almost 8100mAh ! 
  • 6200mAh 100C has “burst” voltage in the first 2:30 minutes, then it drops. The 8000mAh 60C version needs to be heated up to provide good voltage under load. It is LiHV, but provides good capacity.
  • However Bashing 7000mAh 60C provides most energy – Wh under load!

Comparison of LiHV / LiPo discharge curves

If you are LiPo charging (4,2 – 4,25 V/cell) the capacity will be about 1 Ah less then LiHV charged. Sorry, Data Explorer seems to shift the X axis (voltage) somehow.
